Terms & Conditions

Last updated: August 2026

The short version

myhidayah is an information and reflection site, not a substitute for professional help. Nothing here is medical or psychological advice. If you need professional support, please visit nhs.uk, call 999 in an emergency, or call Samaritans on 116 123. See our Get Help page for more.

1. Who we are

myhidayah is provided at myhidayah.co.uk ("myhidayah", "we", "us", "our"). By using this website you agree to these Terms & Conditions. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.

2. myhidayah is an information and educational resource only — not advice of any kind

myhidayah IS AN INFORMATION-BASED SITE ONLY. Every part of it — articles, duas, the Companion feature, search results, mood tracking, reflections, and any other content — is provided purely for general educational and informational purposes. NONE OF IT IS MEDICAL, PSYCHOLOGICAL, PSYCHIATRIC, THERAPEUTIC, LEGAL, FINANCIAL, OR PROFESSIONAL ADVICE OF ANY KIND, and none of it is a diagnosis, a treatment plan, or a substitute for a consultation with a qualified professional. Using myhidayah does not create a doctor-patient, therapist-client, counsellor-client, or any other professional or fiduciary relationship between you and us, under any circumstances.

3. If you need professional help

If you are struggling with your mental health, please speak to a qualified professional — do not rely on this website. You can find NHS services and self-referral options at nhs.uk. If you are in crisis or in danger right now, call 999 or go to your nearest A&E immediately. You can also call Samaritans free, any time, day or night, on 116 123. See our Get Help page for more crisis resources. If in doubt, always seek professional help first — myhidayah is never an appropriate substitute.

4. No liability, whatsoever, to the fullest extent permitted by law

WE ACCEPT NO LIABILITY OF ANY KIND FOR ANY LOSS, HARM, INJURY, OR DAMAGE — WHETHER DIRECT, INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR OTHERWISE — ARISING OUT OF OR IN ANY WAY CONNECTED TO YOUR USE OF myhidayah, YOUR ACCESS TO OR INABILITY TO ACCESS THE SITE, YOUR RELIANCE ON ANY CONTENT ON THIS SITE, OR ANY DECISION OR ACTION YOU TAKE (OR FAIL TO TAKE) AS A RESULT OF ANYTHING YOU READ, SEE, OR ARE TOLD HERE. This includes, without limitation, decisions relating to your mental health, physical health, safety, finances, relationships, or any other matter, however serious. YOU USE myhidayah, AND ACT ON ITS CONTENT, ENTIRELY AT YOUR OWN RISK. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all liability, and you agree that we (and anyone else involved in creating or running myhidayah) will not be held responsible or liable in any way for the consequences of your use of this site.

5. No warranty of any kind

myhidayah AND ITS CONTENT ARE PROVIDED STRICTLY "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE", WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING (WITHOUT LIMITATION) ANY IMPLIED WARRANTY OF ACCURACY, COMPLETENESS, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, OR NON-INFRINGEMENT. We make no representation or warranty that any content on this site is accurate, complete, current, or suitable for your particular circumstances.

6. AI-generated content

Some features (such as Companion and search insights) use AI to generate responses. AI-generated content can be inaccurate or incomplete, is generated automatically without human review, and — like everything else on this site — is not professional advice, and is covered by the same total exclusion of liability set out above. Always verify anything important, and consult a qualified scholar for matters of Islamic ruling (fiqh) or a qualified professional for matters of health.

7. Age requirement

You must be at least 13 years old to create an account or use myhidayah. If you are under 18, we recommend using the site with the awareness of a parent or guardian, particularly given the sensitive nature of some content (grief, anxiety, and similar topics).

8. Your account

You are responsible for keeping your login details secure and for anything that happens under your account. Journal entries and personal reflections you write are yours; see our Privacy Policy for how we handle that data. We may suspend or close accounts that are used to abuse the service, harass others, or attempt to compromise the site's security.

9. Religious content

We take care to source Quranic text, translations, and hadith from recognised sources, and to grade hadith according to classical scholarship. Islam has a range of scholarly opinions across schools of thought, and content on this site reflects particular sourcing choices, not a single authoritative ruling. For matters of fiqh specific to your situation, please consult a qualified, trusted scholar.

10. Content ownership

The design, code, and original written content on myhidayah belong to us. Quranic text, hadith, and other primary religious sources are not ours to own and are reproduced for educational purposes. Please don't reproduce or redistribute our original content without asking first — contact us using the details below.

11. Other websites

myhidayah may link to other websites, including the NHS, Samaritans, and other third-party services. We don't control those sites and aren't responsible for their content, availability, or how they handle your data.

12. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless against any claim, loss, or expense arising from your misuse of the site or your breach of these terms.

13. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms & Conditions from time to time. If we make significant changes, we'll update the date below. Continuing to use myhidayah after a change means you accept the updated terms.

14. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
