The story
Yunus (AS) left his people before he was given permission to leave. He boarded a ship — and was swallowed by a whale, alone in a darkness that had no bottom.
In that moment, with no way out, he made the dua that has become one of the most repeated in Islamic history: 'There is no god but You, glory be to You, indeed I have been of the wrongdoers.'
He did not argue. He did not explain. He simply named the truth of his situation and addressed it entirely to Allah.
The Quran says he was rescued because of his glorification of Allah in the darkness. His dua was not a negotiation. It was a return.
