The story
Umm Salamah (RA) came to the Prophet ﷺ having already lost her first husband. She made the dua that Khadeejah's family had taught — asking Allah to replace her loss with something better — not knowing what that could possibly mean.
She was known for her wisdom and her calm counsel. At one of the most critical moments in early Islamic history — after the Treaty of Hudaybiyyah, when the companions were confused and reluctant — it was Umm Salamah who advised the Prophet ﷺ. Her counsel turned the situation around.
She said: 'Go out and say nothing to anyone. Slaughter your camel and shave your head.' When he did, the companions followed. She understood human nature — that action leads, and words sometimes cannot.
Her life is one of the quieter stories of the early Muslim community, but it is full of a steady wisdom that proved itself in the most difficult moments.

ٱلَّذِينَ إِذَآ أَصَٰبَتْهُم مُّصِيبَةٌۭ قَالُوٓا۟ إِنَّا لِلَّهِ وَإِنَّآ إِلَيْهِ رَٰجِعُونَ
“Who, when disaster strikes them, say, "Indeed we belong to Allah, and indeed to Him we will return."”
