Wives of the Prophet ﷺ
Aisha (RA) and a mind that taught scholars
One of the most narrated sources of hadith.
The story
Aisha (RA) was one of the most learned people of her generation — not just among women, but among all the companions. She narrated over two thousand hadith. Scholars would travel to her to ask questions the Prophet's other companions could not answer.
She was known for her sharpness, her memory, and her courage to correct even senior companions when they were mistaken. Once, when a companion gave an incorrect ruling about a matter of purification, she sent back a correction — citing what she had directly witnessed from the Prophet ﷺ.
After the Prophet ﷺ passed away, she lived for decades more — teaching, narrating, guiding. The companion Abu Musa al-Ash'ari said: 'Whenever we companions of the Prophet found difficulty in a matter, we asked Aisha about it, and we always found that she had knowledge of it.'
Her life is a reminder that the pursuit of knowledge is an act of worship — and that scholarship has no gender.
